Thank You  for your Inquiry

What you should know about Professional Face Painters

Thank you for your inquiry. We are happy that you are interested in face painting for your event. Whether you hire us, or choose another face painter, we believe that a bit of knowledge helps you make an informed decision.  Our goal is that you have  a memorable but also safe event.

Here are some important things you should know when hiring a face painter.

  • Professional face painters use professional supplies made for application ON THE BODY.  No craft supplies or actual (acrylic) paint.  It is make-up, with FDA regulated ingredients.  Make-ups and glitters are much more safe for use on the face and body than even "non-toxic" craft paints.  (Non-toxic just means that if ingested it will not poison you!)  Inappropriate supplies like craft, or acrylic paint can be dangerous applied to the skin. Especially young skin. (Acrylic paint is essentially liquid plastic.)
Ask your face painter what supplies they use. If they have insurance. How they clean their tools.

  • Professional face painters carry insurance. You may ask for and receive a copy of their insurance certificate.
  • Professional face painters, although at present are not licensed or regulated, strive to practice the most hygienic and safe procedures.
  • Professional face painters will not paint guests whom appear to be sick (avoiding cross contamination) or are too young to sit (enjoying the experience).
  • Professional face painters will have clean kits and will clean their brushes between uses.  In many cases disposable or single use applicators are used, especially for painting on lips. They change their water and may use a method of two to three water containers. (1. wash, 2. rinse, 3. clean.)
  • Professional face painters arrive on time, are dressed appropriately, are courteous, and speak and behave in a family friendly manner.
  • Professional face painters know that it is the experience of being transformed into a favorite character and being treated like you are special are much more important than the perfectly painted face.  That wiggly precocious child, as well as the shy child who won't look up, are treated with the same love as the perfectly still model. (Usually with an awesome design!)
  • Professional face painters are just that.  Professional. They may or may not have artistic background, but they have invested time and money to render the designs safely on your precious child.  Artists who work on canvas, with out face and body art training will be able to paint a gorgeous design, but may not use appropriate supplies made for the skin.  Your child's face is more delicate and more sensitive than, let's say the fingers of an artist who is covered in acrylic paint.
